Maserati Levante GTS Spied Testing its V8 Engine in the Cold
Maserati is bolstering the Levante lineup with the addition of a V8-powered GTS model.
The Maserati Levante hasn’t exactly caught on in the marketplace as well as the Italian automaker would like. But it’s hoping that will change with the Levante GTS, powered by an upgraded V8 engine borrowed from the Quattroporte GTS. Expect the 3.8-liter V8 engine designed by Ferrari to provide around 570 horsepower and 515 pound-feet of torque, making it a strong competitor to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
Power will be sent to all four wheels through a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

Ultimately, the Levante GTS will be even less off-road friendly than other models in the lineup, but that’s probably not an issue since most Levante owners aren’t taking their SUVs off-roading.
Although the Maserati Levante GTS is expected to make its debut in the first half of 2018, the automaker may wait until the revamped Levante is unveiled in the second half of 2018. The SUV is getting an early mid-cycle facelift before the end of the year.
