Chandigarh, February 12: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against rampant corruption today nabbed a revenue Patwari posted at Phul-1 & 2, district Bathinda red-handed for accepting the bribe.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Gurjeet Singh, Patwari, posted at revenue halqa Phul 1 & 2 in Bathinda district and a private person Jaswinder Singh was caught red-handed on the complaint of Mr. Harpreet Singh, a complainant of Phul Town, district Bathinda.
Giving details he said the complainant approached the VB and alleged that the above-named patwari and his assistant were demanding the bribe of Rs. 14000 for mutation of his land and the deal was struck at Rs. 12000/-.
After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and both the accused were caught red-handed and tainted money was recovered from them in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police Bathinda and further investigation was in progress.
