Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday that youth in J&K were being misled through “morphed pictures”. Mr. Singh said he too had been a victim of “cyber morphing” and such incidents continue as effective action is not taken against the perpetrators.
Mr. Singh made the remarks at the 24th All India Forensic Science Conference in Ahmedabad.
“On several occasions, we have found that youth in J&K are misled by morphed pictures. Photographs of Myanmar or Philippines are passed off as incidents in Gujarat. Since effective action against such persons are not taken, the cycle continues,” said Mr. Singh. He said a few days ago, someone had morphed a picture from a Hindi film where several police officers from Gujarat were seen bowing at his feet. “ I had to clarify at a public meeting that the photo was fake.” He said there was an increase in incidents of online “stalking and bullying” of women and forensic experts should find a solution to the menace.
Mr. Singh said the government had decided to establish a Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to report cyber crimes against women.
