The Cape Verde government announced plans to create a new company to manage the state's telecommunications network, a service so far managed by Cape Verde Telecom (CV Telecom) and whose concession contract will also be renegotiated, reports Lusa. The functional separation of the management of the telecom network of the State of Cape Verde was announced by Minister Fernando Elisio Freire, after a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

The idea, according to the official, is to separate the wholesale network from the retail business; the latter would be provided by CV Telecom and other companies in the telecommunications sector. The minister saidd that the government would renegotiate the current concession agreement with CV Telecom, which expires in 2021, and restructure the regulated sector.
