After taking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) head-on for about a week on the Union Budget and implementation of the assurances given in the AP Reorganisation Act, the Telugu Desam leadership appears to be in a state of “uncertainty whether to continue its protest”.
The TDP senior leaders opine that the “status quo” would continue for a week or so though Union Finance Minister Aruns Jaitley had “agreed to draft an action plan” within the next week or 10 days to address all issues. The TDP leaders are tight-lipped when asked why Mr. Jaitley or Railway Minister Piyush Goyal or BJP chief Amit Shah did not make any official statement on the reported agreement relating to revenue deficit and drafting an action plan before the Budget session would resume on March 5.

They also evaded direct replies when asked whether the party was satisfied with the assurances given by Mr. Jaitley. The TDP’s dilemma is evident with TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directing the leaders not to keep quiet if the BJP gave any misleading information.
When contacted, TDP AP president and Energy Minister Kimidi Kala Venkat Rao said: “We will discuss and assess the outcome of Union Minister of State of for Science and Technology Y S Chowdary’s meeting with Mr. Jaitley on Sunday,” he said.
