While fans are awaiting Baaghi 2 with bated breath, to see the rumoured couple Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani sizzle on screen, our anticipation for the film has increased further ever since news of Jacqueline Fernandez recreating Madhuri Dixit‘s iconic number, Ek Do Teen, started doing the rounds. The makers organised a media interaction for the same, during which Jacqueline opened up about doing her version of the foot-tapping number to pay tribute to Bollywood’s dancing diva, Madhuri Dixit Nene. Speaking to the media, Jacqueline said, “I think that was my first stress that how can we recreate something so iconic like ‘is it even possible’. It made a lot easier for me when I understood that it’s not possible, we are not trying to match up to what Madhuri Dixit and Saroj (Khan) ji did.”
The diva was accompanied by the film’s director, Ahmed Khan, who began his career as an assistant choreographer to Saroj Khan, and Ganesh Acharya, who set the steps to the rehashed version of the song in Baaghi 2. “We are honestly here as big fans of their work and more than anything, this is honestly a tribute to the amazing, iconic number that they gave to us. For me as an actress, this is such an honour and a lot of my actress friends were like, ‘we are so jealous that you doing ‘Ek do teen’. So for any girl this would be a dream song to do,” said Jacqueline, adding that she feels blessed to get an opportunity to dance to the foot-tapping number of the cult film, Tezaab. Speaking about it further, Jacqueline told that always knew that she could never ever match up to Madhuri Dixit and hence didn’t even try to attempt to replicate the diva and her steps. “I feel really blessed that I have been given this opportunity by director Ahmed Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and master ji Ganesh Acharya. There is only one Madhuri Dixit and I know that this is just my tribute to her,” she said. She added that she will be getting in touch with Madhuri Dixit to chat a little more about the song once its done. ” I am currently in a lot of stress. My only focus over the past week has been this one song and of course, they (Madhuri and Saroj Khan) will be the first persons to whom we will show the song. We have already taken their blessings,” she said. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, under the banner name Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and presented by Fox Star Studios, Baaghi 2 is the sequel to the 2016 film Baaghi, which featured Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor. The film will hit screens on March 30 this year.
