With Selection Sunday a month away, the NCAA selection committee on Sunday released its initial rankings of the top 16 teams for the NCAA tournament.
The Vols checked in as a No. 4 seed in Atlanta's South Regional and the No. 13 seed overall.
The selection committee has Virginia as the No. 1 seed in the South Regional and the top seed overall, along with No. 2 Cincinnati and No. 3 Michigan State.

The No. 14 Vols (18-6, 8-4 SEC) have been largely hot since dropping their first two SEC games. Tennessee won nine of its next 10, including a six-game winning streak before it suffered its first blowout loss of the season on Saturday, falling 78-50 at Alabama.
Tennessee had lost by a combined 30 points in its previous five losses to Villanova, North Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn and Missouri. The selection committee pegged Villanova as a No. 1 seed (No. 2 overall), Auburn as a No. 2 seed (No. 5 overall) and North Carolina as a No. 3 seed (No. 12 overall).

Tennessee hosts South Carolina (13-12, 4-8) on Tuesday (9 p.m. ET, ESPNU).
Selection Sunday is March 11.
