The district police headquarters has removed DSP (Patdama) Ajay Kerketta in view of his alleged involvement in sensational rape case involving a 17-year-old minor. He has been sent to Ranchi police headquarters till the investigation into the incident is completed and the report is submitted to SSP.
Earlier, the MGM thana in-charge Imdad Ansari, who is also amongst accused for raping the minor girl, has been sent to district police lines at Golmuri.
New East Singhbhum SSP Anoop Birtharay has expedited probe into the sensational Sahara City rape case by speaking to the 17-year-old victim, her mother and employer Nanak Chandra Seth.
The new SSP has also replaced the investigating officer of the case, R. Khan, with OC Arun Kumar Mahatha late on Thursday night.
“A four-member team, which is probing it, will submit a report. We will determine the line of action only after getting the report,” Birtharay. The SSP said a medical examination would be conducted at MGM Medical College & Hospital to determine the age of the victim.
The girl’s Potka-based mother had on January 19 lodged a rape FIR in Mango thana against Indrapal Singh Saini, Shiv Kumar Mahto and Santosh Mahto. They allegedly used a video clip of the assault to blackmail her.
Later the victim had revealed that MGM thana OC had raped her at the police station. She had also accused the DSP of molesting her. Police have so far arrested only Saini.
The 17-year-old girl who worked as a maid in the house of a businessman at Sahara City was raped by three persons. As the matter came to the notice of the house owner, Nanak Chandra Seth, he made the victim’s mother, who is a resident of Kawali in Potka block to lodged an FIR against three with the Mango police station on January 19.
The probe team constituted by the then East Singhbhum SSP Anoop T. Mathew is led by DSP headquarter-I K. N Mishra, Mango police station officer-in-charge, Arun Kumar Mahatha, Sakchi Mahila thana in-charge Seema Kumari and Jaduguda thana in-charge, Priyanka Kumari and will be submitting their report to the new SSP Anup Birtharay.
