New VC of Doon varsity vowed to fill vacancies of teachers

The Doon University would soon start a recruitment drive to fill vacant posts of the teachers. Informing while addressing faculty, staffers and students on Saturday, the newly appointed vice-chancellor (VC) of the university C S Nautiyal said that they would ensure that the most competent persons are recruited.

In his first address after assuming reins of the university, the VC assured that the university would soon have some of the best faculty members from across the country and efforts would be made to improve the existing infrastructure. He exhorted the students and teachers to start new discipline in academics so that the university becomes a premier centre of higher education in the State.

Nautiyal outlined his priorities, elaborated upon his vision and emphasised on the need to raise the bar in teaching, research and social responsibility towards Uttarakhand.

“Excellent teaching, students’ satisfaction, research and social responsibility are my four main priorities in the same order,” the VC said while making it clear that  the students and teaching were the primary areas that he would focus on.

Stating that he had come back to his roots and was keen to serve Uttarakhand,  he said that one of the core parameters would be commitment to the welfare and betterment state.

He announced that the university would start a Linguistic Centre for Study of Regional Languages, Innovation Centre and Entrepreneurship Development Cell in the university premises.

The officiating registrar H C Purohit, finance controller D C Lohani and deputy registrar M S Mandrawal aside from professors Kusum Arunachalam and Harsh Dobhal were among those present on the occasion.
