Keraniganj printing presses fire doused after 11hrs

The fire that broke out at three printing presses and a courier service office in South Keraniganj of Dhaka on Saturday afternoon was doused after 11 hours of frantic efforts by the fire fighters.

 

Nine fire fighting units put out the flame around 2am on Sunday.

 

The cause of the fire is not clear yet, South Keraniganj Police Station OC Monirul said.

 

The fire gutted Bookman Printers & Publishers, Balaka Press and Publication, and Sarker Printing & Publishing, and office of Janani Courier Service, said Sajib Sarker, inspector of Keraniganj Fire Service, UNB reports.

 

Abul Kalam Azad, owner of Janani Group, the mother concern of three damaged printing presses and courier service, said there are 30 printing machines, 15 binding machines, huge printing materials and books.

 

All valuables were burnt to ashes, causing loss of Tk 50 crore, he claimed.
