Ram Madhav.
BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav said on Sunday that many people try to reduce the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to just an organisation, but the RSS doesn't have such boundaries.
Delivering a lecture on 'A Talk in Integral Thought' here, Madhav said the Sangh was working to spread awareness on the Indian way of thinking, which is based on values.
"Ours is value-based thinking. Imbued with humanism, this style is universal. RSS and many other organisations have been working on passing it on to the next generation," he said.
Noting that 'Indianness' was the product of the ancient civil society in India, he said it transcended political and historical boundaries to find its roots in the values.
"Many limit RSS to an organisation. But organisations function in a boundary. RSS doesn't have one," he said.
Madhav said despite differences and clashes, "we live harmoniously and that is the character of secular society". "We are now talking of protecting women. We also need to think of respecting them. Mahatma Gandhi said we truly achieve freedom when women feel safe even while walking on the street in the middle of the night," he said.
