Padman starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte got off to a decent start at the Box Office owing to positive reviews by the critics. The socially relevant film, which had earned Rs 10.26 crore on its opening day, has did exceptionally well on the second day, managing to rake in Rs 13.68 crore on Saturday, bringing its total collection amount to Rs 23.94 crore. The film is based on the life of social entrepreneur, Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented a machine to manufacture low-cost sanitary pads, to make it easily available and accessible to women belonging to the lower sections of the society. Twinkle Khanna debuted as a producer with this film. Padman, infact,  is a narrative taken from one of the short stories of her own book, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad.

Senior film critic and trade analyst, Taran Adarsh took to the micro-blogging site to share the numbers. Seeing the stupendous growth on the second day, he predicts the same to follow on Sunday as well. He wrote, “#PadMan makes RAPID STRIDES on Sat… Picks up SPEED… Biz should be STRONG on Sun too… HEALTHY weekend is on the cards… Fri 10.26 cr, Sat 13.68 cr. Total: ₹ 23.94 cr. India biz.” Take a look at his post below :

Pad Man was the first film to release on the same day as India In Rusia, Ivory Coast and Iraq. The film has released in 2750 screens in India and 600 screens abroad, bringing the total number of screenings to 3350, which is a phenomenal number. Given that the film has already witnessed a 35% jump on the second day, moving forward, we wonder how’s it going to be. Any thought? Let us know in the comments’ section below.
