Pune, Feb 11: The Maharashtra Police has arrested one person in connection with murder of Deepali Kolhatkar, the wife of Marathi drama and film director Dilip Kolhatkar, in Pune. The 65-year-old was found dead in their house on Thursday by her son-in-law.
According to the post-mortem report, Deepali died on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The report also claimed that she was brutally throttled and beaten up. Notably, the deceased had head and burn injuries.
Deepali used to stay with her husband and mother, sources were quoted as saying in a Pune Mirror report. The cops were informed by the residents about the incident. They reportedly spotted smoke emitting from the house. When the police and fire brigade reached the spot, they found Deepali burnt to death. She was taken to the Sassoon Hospital for a post mortem. After the report, the police registered a case of murder.
Meanwhile, an investigation in the case is underway.
