Literary contests for students at Krithi Book Fest

The fest will be held in the city from March 1 to 10

The Krithi International Festival of Books and Authors-2018 to be organised by the State Department of Co-operation along with the Sahithya Pravarthaka Co-operative Society in the city from March 1 to 10 will conduct a slew of literary contests for school students.

There will be contests in short story, poetry, essay writing, and poster designing. Winners will be chosen by a jury comprising eminent writers and teachers and will be presented citations and prizes at the fest.

The categories and topics for competitions are as follows: Malayalam story UP- Sacrifice; High School – Family; Higher Secondary - Hunger; English story UP - A gift; High School - Family; and Higher Secondary - Hunger. Essay Malayalam UP - Festival; High School - National Integration; and Higher Secondary - Gandhi’s India. Essay English UP - Onam; High School - Inequality; Higher Secondary - The idea of India. For poetry writing, any topic of choice can be considered while the topic for poster designing competition is drinking water.

Short stories should not exceed 1,000 words, essays must be in 500 words and poems should be sent on both sides of the paper. The name of student, parents and school should be sent on a separate sheet of paper. Entries are to be submitted in envelopes marked “Krithi Literature Festival 2018” at the office of the headmaster/principal of each school before February 27. For details, call 0484-4851124.
