THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet meeting convened by the chief minister on Friday dispersed without taking any decision as the number of ministers required to fill the quorum was not present. Out of the 19 Cabinet ministers, only six ministers were present, following which the meeting was abandoned.

Four CPM ministers didn’t attend as they had to attend party’s Wayanad district meeting. Other ministers had other engagements in their respective districts.

The Friday meeting was decided on last Wednesday itself. The Cabinet meeting was supposed to have discussed matters related to extension of 19 Ordinances.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala criticised the absence of ministers and he said such a cabinet was a disgrace to the State. “The ministers are not interested in governance but only in attending other party functions. The ministers have proved that they are not fit to rule the State,” he added.
