DM annoyed over scanty milk supply

District Magistrate Pauri Sushil Kumar sounded annoyed over scanty supply of milk from the chilling plant based at Kotdwar with just 283 litre milk  being produced per day by  as many as 132 milk samitis operating in the district. DM instructed the district milk development officer to raise the volume of collected milk by all means while chairing a meeting of the district- level committee constituted to stop adulteration of milk and milk products in Pauri on Friday.

DM instructed the district food security officer to launch drives to collect samples  of milk products like mawa, cheese and butter every month and to ensure action against those involved in their adulteration.

The district food security officer is learnt to have informed the DM that samples are being collected all the year round and vigorous anti-adulteration drives are launched particularly during the time of the    festivals. Till date, 147 collected samples, including 22 of milk and milk products, have been sent for testing and   they have received reports of 12 samples. He further said that two adulterators have been slapped with fines.  DM is learnt to have asked the department concerned to be vigilant particularly along the inter-state border areas like Najibabad. He also alerted the officials concerned about the expiry of the milk products.

Among those present at the meeting were the chief development officer Ravneet Chimma, chief medical officer R S Rana, DDO Ved Prakash, assistant director milk Leela Dhar Sagar and food security officer Pramod Rawat.
