Anandiben Patel: Youth are helmsmen of development and unity in country

Governor Anandiben Patel said that the youth are the helmsman of development and unity of the country. There is need to develop the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshta Bharat’ to end the separatist thinking among youths of the bordering provinces of the country. She said that there should be give and take of the country’s diverse cultures and thoughts among the youth. The Governor said this during a meeting with students of Manipur, Nagaland and Madhya Pradesh attending the inter-State youth programme organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra at Raj Bhavan.

Patel said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a slogan of ‘Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas’ for the development of every province of the country. She said that today China and Pakistan are posing challenges and difficulties at out north-eastern borders of the country, She said that when she went to meet the soldiers at the north-east border she experienced that how they were protecting the country’s 125 crore population.

At such a time we should extend full support and cooperation at every step and help boost the morale of our Army. She said that efforts should be made to connect each province of India with the other so that water can be supplied in drought-affected provinces from provinces with surplus water and every province is developed and becomes prosperous. She said that we should be proud of our culture. Until and unless we are not aware of our past glory, the spirit of patriotism will not arise in us.

The Governor released the souvenir of Nehru Yuva Kendra and presented mementos to the youths. The Kendra also presented a memento to the Governor. Youths from Manipur, Nagaland and Madhya Pradesh shared their experiences with the Governor. The youth also presented a cultural programme on the occasion.

Among those present on the occasion were Principal Secretary to the Governor M Mohanrao, Principal Secretary Culture Department Manoj Shrivastava and Nehru Yuva Kendra Director Manoj Samaliya.
