On a recommendation of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the State Government on Friday appointed Yamini Sarangi as the new district Collector and Jainarayan Pankaj as SP of Bargarh district.
Both officials were transferred from Jagatsinghpur district.
Notably, the BJP, a few days back, had approached the Chief Election Commissioner seeking transfer of the incumbent district Collector and SP while alleging that they were working in favour of the ruling BJD ahead of Bijepur Assembly by-election in Bargarh district.
Subsequently, the ECI had sought a list of IAS officers and IPS officers for replacement of the incumbent two. The State Government prepared the list and sent it to the State Chief Electoral Officer, who, in his turn, forwarded it to the ECI.
