HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao laid the foundation for taking up various development works at an estimated cost of ₹2 crore at ‘Erramatti Dibbalu’ (red sand dunes) near INS Kalinga at Bheemunipatnam here on Friday.
Beach restaurant
The works to be taken up to attract more tourists from India and abroad to the geological wonder, include opening of a beach restaurant, parking space for 100 cars and 300 two-wheelers, children’s play area, an office, security rooms, five beach shacks, benches, umbrellas, high mast lights and avenue plantation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Visakhapatnam was already attracting tourists from around the globe and there was every need to provide adequate amenities sustain their interest in the tourist attractions in Visakhapatnam region. He said that four-lane roads were being developed between Visakhapatnam and Bheemunipatnam and from there to Bhogapuram at an estimated cost of ₹500 crore. The other beaches in Visakhapatnam, which were attracting tourists, were the Lawson’s Bay, Rushikonda and Kapuluppada.
