YSR Congress Party MLA and party Nellore district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy on Friday said it was because of failure to submit detailed project reports (DPRs) by the State government on major multi-crore projects that AP was given poorer allocations in the Union Budget.
He deplored that the DPRs were not being submitted just because it would prevent the ruling Telugu Desam Party leadership from escalating project costs to benefit contractors and in turn themselves.

Addressing a press conference here at the YSRCP office, Mr. Govardhan Reddy alleged irregularities were taking place in respect of both the mega projects of Polavaram dam across the Godavari river and also in the construction of Amaravati Capital city for the newly formed AP.
He said this year’s budget was the fifth one being presented by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre but the Chief Minister had never raised any objection in the past four years. The situation changed dramatically this year as Chief Minister and his Ministers began attacking the Centre, he added. He said some BJP leaders were openly expressing doubts about the credentials of the government with regard to the execution of big projects in the State.
