Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mumbai next Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is promoting the Centre’s Housing for All by 2022 mission. Mr. Modi’s flagship project aims to build 19 lakh low-cost houses in Maharashtra by 2022.
To publicise the scheme, six Garib Raths will tour the city’s major slums and residential complexes from February 11. The raths will distribute over 25,000 pamphlets highlighting the achievements of the government in the housing sector.
Senior BJP leaders will address 12 pubic meetings and reiterate the government’s promises in the housing sector such as giving permanent homes to slums that came up after 2011.
Mr. Modi will begin his tour of his city on February 18 by inaugurating the Magnetic Maharashtra Summit and the ground laying ceremony for the Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar said, “About 18 lakh Mumbaikars will benefit from schemes such as housing for all, home to post-2011 slums, and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.”
