JAMMU: A special police officer (SPO) was arrested on Thursday for his alleged involvement in the rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in
Kathua last month, said
Jammu & Kashmir Police on Friday. The arrest was made by a special investigation team (SIT) of Jammu & Kashmir crime branch.

Hiranagar was arrested by the SIT, J&K Police ADG Alok Puri confirmed, adding that a probe is underway. The victim, a resident of Hiranagar, was abducted on January 10 and her brutalised body was found three kilometres away from her home on January 17. A 15-year-old boy was earlier detained in connection with the crime.
