Car knocks down two

Two persons, who were returning after supplying milk to a cooperative society, were mowed down by a car at Theerthapuram near here early on Friday. The names of the dead were given as Karuppan, 50, and M. Pachaiammal, 30, of Theerthapuram. The police said the two were walking on the road after supplying milk to a local cooperative society when the car hit them. bound to Salem from Virudhachalam hit them and rammed against a roadside tree. Karuppan and Pachaiammal sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. The car driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. A case has been registered.
