Man thrashed by gang in suspected case of moral policing

MALAPPURAM (KERALA): In a suspected case of moral policing, a 22-year-old man was beaten up by some people at a village in the district, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred at Kalinkallathani on February 1, police said.


They said Muhammed Rafi went to the village to meet a girl when he was attacked by some persons with pipes and wooden logs after he was tied to an electric pole.


They charged him with having an affair with her, police said


Rafi, who sustained injuries in the attack on his hands and legs, later managed to escape from the spot and was treated for his injuries at a hospital.


Police registered cases under various sections of IPC, including unlawful assembly, rioting and attempt to commit culpable homicide against 30 persons, who are at large, on a complaint from the man today, police said.
