Pune: The Sangvi police on Friday registered as many as four rape complaints involving three minor girls and a woman.
A 17-year-old girl from Pimple Saudagar was repeatedly being raped by the suspect since August 1, 2017.

Police said the suspect first entered the girl's house on finding her alone and raped her on the pretext of marriage. He also gave her pills from time to time to prevent her from becoming pregnant. Some days back, the suspect forcibly took her to a lodge at Katraj where he raped her again. The rape incidents came to light after the girl told her mother about them. He was later arrested by the police

In the other case, a 15-year-old girl from Pimple Gurav was also raped on the pretext of marriage. Police said the suspect induced the girl to have a relationship with him. The incident came to light after the girl's sister told her mother that her sister and the suspect had locked themselves in a room. The girl's mother lodged an FIR against the suspect after he abused and beat her daughter and decided to marry another woman.

In the third case, a 14-year-old girl, also from Pimple Gurav, was being raped for the last eight months. The incident came to light after the girl became pregnant. Police said the suspect got friendly with the girl after chatting up with her. He then took her to Rajasthan where he kept her at the residence of his relative for a fortnight. He repeatedly forced himself on her there. The girl informed a social activist about her ordeal after returning to the city. The activist then decided to approach the police and file a complaint.

In the fourth case, a 42-year-old woman from Pimple Nilakh, was being raped on the pretext of marriage since 2008. Police said the suspect took the woman to Nashik and Gujarat where he forced himself on her. The suspect collected cash and valuables worth Rs 6.66 lakh from her to purchase farm land, but he avoided marrying her. The suspect and his family beat her up when she confronted them.

Senior inspector Ajay Chandkhede said, "We have lodged four FIRs and arrested a suspect in one of the cases. We have launched a hunt for the suspects involved in the other three cases."
