A sliver of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics extravaganza in South Korea was witnessed in the Capital on Friday, as the Korean Cultural Centre organised a live screening of the opening night of the games.
The PyeongChang Olympics opening night was attended by Korean Ambassador to India Shin Bong-kil, Union Additional Secretary to Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiron Soni Gupta and Korean Cultural Centre Director Kim Kum Pyoung.
“This is also a historic day for us because North and South Korea will march under one flag, sending out the message of a unified Korea. Sports bind people together and the government has been working towards the vision of a peaceful and unified Korea,” said Ambassador Shin.
The Centre also declared the results of the all-India painting competition, which saw participation by over 22,000 students. The theme was Winter Olympics. Five students from schools in Delhi, Ranchi and Kerala have been selected to watch the winter games in South Korea. Cross-country skier Jagdish Singh and luge rider Shiva Keshavan are representing India in the games.
