The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat laid the foundation stone of Dr Nityanand Swami research and study centre in the Doon University campus on Friday. The centre would be constructed by the Bridge Ropeway, tunnel and other Infrastructure Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (BRIDCUL) at an estimated cost of `15 Crore. Speaking on the occasion, the CM expressed hope that the work on the project would be completed within a year. Terming Dr Nityanand as a mendicant , Rawat said that he served the society with total dedication. He said that lot of research is needed on Himalayas and the upcoming centre would fulfill this need. Terming health and employment generation necessary for preventing migration CM said that there is plan to link local produce with economy and develop new townships in the State. He said that all 670 Nyay Panchayats would be developed into township. Rawat said that the projects like All weather road and increasing rail and air connectivity would give a fillip to tourism in the state.
The State Minister for higher education Dhan Singh Rawat said that an academic calendar has been released for qualitative improvement in higher education. He said that classroom teaching of 180 days is made compulsory and a time period of 30 days has been fixed for conducting the examination and declaration of results.
The vice chancellor of Doon University Chandrashekhar Nautiyal, Saha Sarkaryavah of RSS Dr Gopal Krishna, MLAs Harbans Kapoor, Khajan Das, Vinod Chamoli, BJP state president Ajay Bhatt and others were present on the occasion.
