BJP Sikh leaders meet Rajnath for fresh probe

Delhi BJP’s Sikh leaders met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and demanded a fresh probe against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The meeting came after a video surfaced recently purportedly showing Tytler speaking about his alleged role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The BJP delegation, which included party national secretary RP Singh, submitted a memorandum to Singh, seeking a probe against Tytler based on the video released by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK.

A memorandum was submitted to the Home Minister by the delegation demanding an immediate, fresh SIT enquiry and prosecution against Tytler on the basis of the video, a Delhi BJP statement read.

Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, Rajiv Babbar also met the Home Minister in this regard.

Manjit Singh had in a presser on Monday released the video, apparently of a 2011 sting operation, purportedly showing Tytler in conversation with a few people.

He had claimed receiving the video from an unidentified sender on February 3.

Tytler on Thursday filed a police complaint against Manjit Singh charging that he had circulated the doctored video to tarnish his image.

A complaint has also been filed against Tytler by RP Singh on the basis of the video.

Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal-led Akali Dal delegation also met the Home Minister and demanded the immediate arrest of Tytler. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader met Rajnath with her party colleague Naresh Gujral and submitted a video of a purported sting operation showing Tytler apparently admitting his role in the riots.

“It is a matter of great shock and concern that Jagdish Tytler has clearly admitted his involvement in killing of 100 Sikhs and also admitted his culpability in several heinous crimes..,” Badal mentioned in a memorandum submitted to Singh.

She requested Singh to direct investigating agencies to immediately arrest Tytler and conduct a lie-detector test on him.

Badal also claimed that, according to the sting operation, the Congress leader had admitted his culpability in illegal transactions running into billions of rupees in the appointment of Delhi High Court judges among others.

The sting operation was released by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK earlier this week.
