House of ASI burgled in Madiwala police quarters

Gold valuables worth ₹15 lakh were stolen from the house of an Assistant Sub Inspector of police, in Madiwala police quarters on Thursday.

Padmavathy, ASI at Sadduguntepalya, had gone to work while her aged mother was in the house when the theft occurred.

The theft came to light when she returned home for lunch and found that the almirah was ransacked. Gold valuables weighing 650 grams and ₹1 lakh were missing. The thieves used the key, which was usually kept under the almirah, to open the almirah, she said in her complaint.

The police suspect that the culprit is someone known to the family.

Padmavathy’s mother Muthamma told her that two persons had come to the house looking for her in the afternoon and that she sent them back after talking to them at the door step. She later locked the house and went for a walk. On returning home, she went to sleep, Muthamma told the police.
