Dr Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies and Research (DAIMSR) organised a panel discussion on Union Budget 2018-19 recently. The programme facilitated an informed discussion on the Union Budget 2018-19. The discussion was focused on analysing the budget from different perspectives like macroeconomic scenario, financial sector, infrastructure sector, social sector, digital economy, direct and indirect tax proposals, and impact of GST. During the panel discussion policy proposals in budget and their implications for different segments of population were also discussed.
Eminent speakers from different professions participated in the panel discussion. They were CA Naresh Jakhotia partner of SSRPN and Co, Dr Shrinivas Khandewale Economist and Ex Director of DBM, Nagpur, Milind Chittawar, Owner SEE-Tech solution Pvt. Ltd. and CA
Varun Vijaywargi Co-founder and Partner at VK&S.
The event began by lighting of lamp by Dean Academics of DAIMSR Dr. Ashutosh Paturkar and the guests. Later, each speaker delivered a monologue which was followed by panel discussion. "Every year DAIMSR organises Union Budget "Analysis" event to help the students understand various aspects of budget and its implications on business and economy" said Dr Ashutosh Paturkar. "Budget gives direction to the economy and the real reason of economy to grow is to consume" said Milind Chittwar.
CA Naresh Jakhotiya opined that "Sometimes budget doesn't give direct benefits. Benefits are hidden. He cited an example of reintroduction of hassle free standard deduction instead of claiming medical reimbursements, etc. He also said that don't have a negative perception about tax. Taxes paid come back to us in form of facilities and services".
Dr Shrinivas Khandewale, a well-known economist highlighted his views on education sector, employment and rural development. In his address, CA Varun Vijaywargi says that "Credit mechanism before GST was not good but after GST it has become foolproof". He also highlighted the major changes made in this budget and gave his holistic views on the budget.
The panel discussion was moderated by students Prakash Ramteke and Jagruti Jadhao, anchored by
Hiren Mansata and
Minal Khandekar, followed by prize distribution to students for presentation on different sectors of union budget 2018.The winners and runners up from each section were given trophies. Vote of thanks was given by Poonam Meshram, Prof Chetana Soni and Prof Hemant Deshmukh Co-ordinated the event.
