Drones used to monitor activity near LMD

Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Eatala Rajender along with chief whip Koppula Eshwar formally inaugurated the Lake Police Outpost on the shores of Lower Manair Dam (LMD) reservoir on the outskirts of Karimnagar town on Saturday.

The Lake Police was introduced on the LMD reservoir and adjoining areas on October 10 last year. Since then the police had started the use of a drone camera for monitoring activity at the LMD and cracked a whip against the open consumption of liquor and other illegal activities.

So far, the police had arrested 395 persons and registered 151 cases for consuming liquor in open at LMD and adjoining areas by using drone cameras in patrolling.

For the safety and security of the people visiting the LMD reservoir and adjoining parks, the police had installed six CCTV cameras and plans are afoot to install another 30 cameras for the round-the-clock surveillance.

ZP chairman Tula Uma, MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, legislator G. Kamalakar, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh, Commissioner of Police V. B. Kamalasan Reddy, ACPs P. Venkataramana, T. Usha Rani and Krupakar, inspectors T. Srinivas Rao and Mahesh Goud, Lake Police SI Ravi and others were present.
