ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s foreign ministry says Jordan’s King Abdullah II has arrived in the capital, Islamabad, on Thursday on a two-day state visit for talks on bilateral relations.
Abdullah was received on his arrival at the Nur Khan Airbase by Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain and a 21-gun salute was given in his honour. A statement issued by Hussain’s office says the king will also meet with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. He was accompanied by Jordan’s foreign minister and other civil and military officials.
The Pakistan’s foreign ministry says regional and international matters of mutual interest will be discussed.
Matters expected to be discussed include bilateral, regional and international issues and other matters pertaining to mutual interest.
“The visit will provide the two countries an opportunity to explore ways and means to further strengthen cooperation in diverse areas, particularly to expand bilateral trade and enhance investments in Pakistan,” a statement by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.
Pakistan and Jordan enjoy close relations and have similar viewpoints on various regional and international issues.
