UP Govt promoting communal harmony, national integration: Ram Naik

Harping on the principles of `Sabka saath, sabka vikas’ Governor Ram Naik said that the Yogi government is making efforts for the promotion of communal harmony, national integration and social harmony among different religions, communities and other sections of the society as it is determined to take Uttar Pradesh to the path of progress.

‘’Communalism, casteism, regionalism and lingualism will not be allowed to create obstacles in the development of the state. The state government, through different programmes in different sectors, has remained successful in strengthening the national integration and maintaining the communal harmony,” he said while addressing the joint session of the state legislature on the opening day of the state legislature here on Thursday.

Realizing that law and order is a big issue Governor said that government is determined to establish rule of law by bringing an effective manner all goons, mafias and anti-social elements under the ambit of law. He also talked about setting up of Anti-Romeo Squad, Anti-Obscene Call cell, anti-Land mafia task force and setting up of Women Battalion.

When he talked about UPCOCA the treasury members thumped the desks to show their approval. The said bill was passed by Vidhan sabha but has hit the road block in Vidhan Parishad.  

Though the address was marred by disruption by the entire Opposition Naik said the government is determined to ensure progress, welfare and all round development of all sections of the society by following the principle of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’.

 “The government is taking a slew of measures for ensuring economic independence and social equality. Vigorous efforts are being made to provide a transparent administration by generating a better atmosphere for smooth implementation of the government’s priorities, regarding development,” he noted.

The Governor said the main objective of the government was to ensure that the benefits of its policies and schemes reach the lower sections of the society, to achieve the goal of economic educational and social development of all sections of the society.

 “The state government is implementing a number of developmental and welfare programmes, including people’s participation in governance, redressal of people’s grievances, development of tribal communities, conservation and equilibrium of environment, employment programmes. health facilities,and safeties, development of industries, social welfare, protection and empowerment of women, police reforms and urban development. 

‘’Besides, the government is also focusing on promotion of education and sports, welfare of elderly people and doubling the income of farmers by redeeming farmers crop loan and providing them water for irrigation free of charge,” he said. 

The Governor further claimed that the government has made special efforts for establishing a people participatory society full of social harmony by promoting literacy with the help of public institutions, panchayats and other societies engaged in peoples’ welfare and also by banishing social evils.

During his  around 80-minute address, Naik also spoke about the proposed UP Investors Summit, to be held in Lucknow on February 21 and 22, saying that it has been done to attract maximum capital investment after making a very congenial industrial climate in the state.

He also mentioned about the peaceful holding of municipal elections, claiming that it was a pride fact for the state that Ram Nath Kovind, a native of Kanput Dehat, was elected as the President of the country.

Naik also took note of the holding of Sthapna Diwas (Foundation Day) of UP for the first time on January 24, celebrated as Uttar Pradesh Day.

In his address the government deliberated upon every department and the government’s achievement during the past around one year.

However, the Governor also appealed to all the peoples’ representatives, particularly of the Opposition, to cooperate with the government in fulfilling the aspirations of people in the state. 

“The government has accepted the challenge to take the state on fast track of development and everyone is expected to play a significant role in fulfilling the challenge,” he said and even reminded them to maintain the dignity and sanctity of the House.
