THRISSUR: The blockade held by locals, demanding the district administration to capture the tiger that mauled to death a four-year-old boy at Valpara Nadumala estate, has been called off. The protest was ended after Coimbatore Collector gave the assurance that a trap would be laid to catch the tiger.
Earlier, officials including Forest department officials had held discussions with the protesters. During the period 2011-12, six children were caught by the tiger. During that time the tiger was trapped in a net and later released into the deep forest.
Plantation workers Ali and Sebi’s son Saidullah was mauled to death during the other day. The child who was playing in front of his house had soon disappeared from there. In the search conducted, the child’s body was in the plantation with head severed.
