What is the Snooker Shoot Out?

The Snooker Shoot Out is a straight knockout tournament based on speed.

Each match consists of just one frame, which lasts a maximum of 10 minutes.

Players have just 15 seconds to take a shot during the first half of the match, and then only 10 seconds for the second half.

The player with the highest score after 10 minutes - or whoever seals a win in the match before then - progresses.

There are 128 players in the tournament in total.

Where is the Snooker Shoot Out 2018?

The Watford Colosseum is the venue for the 2018 Snooker Shoot Out.

It was also hosted there last year, with Reading, Blackpool and Stoke having all previously staged previous versions of the tournament.

The total prize fund for this year’s Snooker Shoot Out is £146,000.

The winner will receive £32,000 - not bad for just seven frames of snooker.

Players who crash out at the first hurdle will earn just £250.

The runner-up banks a cool £16,000.

ITV have the broadcasting rights for the tournament.

Coverage will begin on Thursday at 11.45am on ITV 4.
