The Hindu reported that state is set to host a major international conference-cum-exhibition on mining technologies. Mining Today, the international conference on mining, will be held at the Hitex Exhibition Centre from February 14 to 17 with the theme TEMPO. The emphasis would be on mining as core sector of the economy that would act as catalyst for other core industries like power, steel, cement, aerospace, defence and oil and gas that are critical for the development of any economy.

Industries and IT Minister Mr KT Rama Rao released the logo of the conference being held jointly by Mining Engineers Association of India and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry with the support of the State government. The event would feature deliberations on mineral exploration, mine design techniques, policy, environment, mines safety aspects and opportunities in the mining sector, among other things.

It would feature transfer of emerging technology, interaction and business dialogues between participants and would serve as platform to launch new products. The technical sessions of the conference would highlight mineral exploration focussing on new trends in exploration, mining technology featuring overseas technology transfer, deliberations on regulation in grant of leases, safeguarding ecology and mineral economics including financing and investments in addition to value addition.

Exhibitors, delegates and participants from several countries, including the USA, Canada and Australia, are expected to participate in the event which would be inaugurated by Governor ESL Narasimhan and Union Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar would be the special guest on the occasion. Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, Union Mines Secretary Arun Kumar and others are expected to participate in the conference.
