Coimbatore: Leopard eats 4-year-old playing outside house, separates head from body

A four-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard in a tea plantation near her house in Coimbatore's Pollachi town.

The child was playing outside her house when the leopard attacked her.

The onlookers said the leopard leaped and dragged the girl away when they tried to save her.

The police and forest department officials were immediately alerted and a search operation was carried out till 3 in the morning.

It was in the morning that the four-year-old's headless body was found, soon after which it was sent for post-mortem.
