Christine Elliott joins PC leadership race

TORONTO

Christine Elliott is once again putting herself out there as a PC leadership candidate. It may be recalled that MPP Elliott finished in second place in 2015 after losing to Patrick Brown who stepped down weeks ago in a dramatic fashion.

Back in 2009, she lost to Tim Hudak who went on to be the PC party leader.

In an interview with a newspaper, she displayed her credentials as a seasoned politician who comes with experience. As someone who has gone through two rough leadership races, Christine

Elliott has no doubt become battle-hardened so to speak.

Her main rival happens to be Caroline Mulroney, who is running for the first time in York-Simcoe. The PC leadership elections happen in the March 10.

The other candidate running is Toronto mayoral runner-up Doug Ford, 53, a family friend who incidentally backed her leadership in 2015.

Elliott, retired as Whitby-Oshawa MPP after losing to Brown two and a half years ago. She was then appointed by Wynne as Ontario’s first patient ombudsman that has left her open to charges of being a turncoat and an opportunist.

Elliott “absolutely” feels she can also be a second choice vote for both Mulroney and Ford supporters in the contest.
