JIMMY KEINHORST scraped a win for Leeds who beat Hull 20-11 but this will definitely not create any fear Down Under.

The champions fly out to Australia today to face NRL title holders Melbourne in next Friday's World Club Challenge.

But the Storm will sleep easy in their beds after watching the Rhinos struggle to contain promoted Rovers.

The visitors were led calmly and wisely by former Leeds legend Danny McGuire but they were far from great.

It's just that Leeds weren't either despite an impressive crowd of 16,149 at Elland Road, their temporary home while work is done at Headingley.

Rovers, who lost to Wakefield in their opening game, gave plenty of early warning that they were after the Rhinos scalp.

Chris Clarkson and Tommy Lee both went close before winger Ryan Shaw ripped in on the right wing for the opening try.

Leeds looked more troubled by the torrential rain than the visitors and it wasn't long before Rovers struck again.

Chris Atkin, on debut at scrum half, provided the pass for full-back Adam Quinlan to dart over from close range.

Shaw, who had kicked the first conversion, missed his second attempt but Rovers were good value for their 10-0 lead.

Leeds lost forwards Anthony Mullally with a dislocated finger and Brett Delaney with a head injury to add to their worries.

But two pieces of class from Adam Cuthbertson turned things around, with two home tries in three minutes.

The giant prop raced in from 10metres out for the first and then provided the pass for centre Keinhorst to touch down.

Keinhorst was a late call-up when stand off Joel Moon was crocked in training, which means Leeds go to Oz with several injury doubts.

Stevie Ward and Richie Myler also needed their heads bandaged in the second half as this tough battle took its toll.

Rovers clearly thought it was going to be a nail-biter and Atkin nudged them into a 11-10 lead with a drop goal two minutes into the second half.

That scoreline lasted until the 67th minute when Keinhorst raced in for his second to relieve the nerves for Leeds.

He then hammered home his claim for a starting spot next week - even without any injuries - with his hat-trick try.
