Lexus RC F and RC coupes updated for 2018
Lexus has introduced a Plus Pack for its V8 RC F coupe along with tweaks to the standard RC

Lexus has unveiled a number of updates for its high performance RC F flagship. As well as a host of technological and safety additions, the V8-powered machine is now available with a new Plus Pack, which for an extra £3000 adds loads of extra kit to the standard £59,620 model. Also receiving a mid-life refresh is the entry level RC coupe.
Externally, the RC F Plus Pack is identified by its 19-inch forged alloy wheels, while inside you’re treated to semi-aniline leather seats with heating and ventilation, a heated steering wheel and keyless entry. On top of this little lot is a 17-speaker Mark Levinson premium sound system. Desirable optional extras include a panoramic sunroof and a torque vectoring limited slip differential. This last item is standard on the £69,620 Carbon Edition, which remains largely unchanged apart from the addition of a leather pack that adds climate seats and a heated steering wheel.
All versions of the RC F are available with the new Naples Yellow and Sonic Titanium metallic paint finishes, while the Lexus Safety System+ is now standard across the range. This suite of features includes pre-collision alert, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and high beam assist.
Mechanically, the only change to the RC F is the adoption of what Lexus calls Drive Start Control. Essentially this limits engine revs if the driver tries to engage drive while pressing the throttle, reducing the chance of an abrupt getaway. Happily, if you’re into your smoky launches you’ll be pleased to learn this function is disabled when the traction control is disengaged.
Like the RC F, all versions of the RC get the Safety System+ as standard, plus Lexus’ Premium Navigation infotainment set-up with its 10.3-inch screen and fiddly Remote Touch controller. The only other major change is the addition of an F Sport with Premier Pack trim level. Based on the £41,640 F Sport, the £43,540 newcomer adds 19-inch alloys, a Mark Levinson surround sound stereo, powered steering column adjustment, auto fold and dimming door mirrors and LED front indicators, plus blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.
