Mumbai, Feb 9: The Maharashtra Budget for the financial year 2018-19 will be presented today on February 9. The Maharashtra Budget 2018 will be presented by Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar. This Budget will be Mungantiwar’s fourth budget.
The Budget session of the Maharashtra legislature is scheduled to begin on February 26. The Budget session is said to have 22 working days and 9 holidays. The session will end on March 28.
Ahead of the Budget 2018-19, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council met on Thursday at the Vidhan Bhavan in south Mumbai.
After the meeting, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Shivtare said that a total of six bills that include direct election of sarpanchs, and the inclusion of a backward class member in the Higher and Technical Education Committee, will be introduced in the legislature.
He added that the birth anniversary of ‘Kusumagraj’ aka VV Shirwadkar will be observed as the “Marathi Bhasha Din” on February 27, for the first time. The day will be celebrated in the state legislature.
