Faridabad, Feb 9: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday raided premises of Mahesh Nagar, close associate of Robert Vadra, in connection with the money laundering investigation in Bikaner land scam. The agency had previously searched the premises of Nagar in April 2017.
It had then said that in four cases of land purchase in Bikaner by Skylight hospitality which is alleged to be linked to Vadra, the “authorised representative” was Nagar.
In December 207, the ED had arrested two persons – Jaiprakash Bagarwa and Ashok Kumar – under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with the Bikaner Land Scam case. “Ashok Kumar is a close associate of Mahesh Nagar of Ms Skylight Hospitality Private Limited,” the ED had then said.
Kumar, ED alleged, purchased land in the same area using the “power of attorney” of others.
Bikaner Land Scam is Land grab case in which fraudsters, teaming up with government officials, got land allotted on the name of fictitious individuals, by creating fake allotment letters, actually for the people who got displaced due to the creation of Mahajan Field Firing Range.
After the arrests, Vadra denied any wrongdoing and claimed he himself has been cheated. “Skylight Hospitality Private Limited or Shri Robert Vadra are victims of the original wrongful allotments, fraud and consequent sale of said land to them in Kolayat, District Bikaner,” Vadra’s legal representative said.
