The Augusta boys basketball team won their third straight game on Tuesday night, with a dominant 83-51 win over Mulvane on homecoming night.
The Orioles were coming off of a win on Friday night against a very solid Wichita Collegiate team. In that contest, the Orioles trailed Collegiate by three at the half. Augusta came out and dominate the third quarter, outscoring Collegiate 22-7 to take a big lead going into the final quarter. Jonny Clausing put the team on his back in the third quarter, scoring 15 of his game-high 27 points as Augusta went on to win 53-41. Zac Burton was the only other Oriole in double figures with 10 points.
On Friday night, Augusta used a balance attack to dismantle Mulvane from start to finish. Mulvane’s defense could not slow the Oriole’s down in the first half, as the Orioles had already scored 48 points before halftime, while allowing just 22.
Augusta continued dominating in the second half, as the Orioles rolled to a 83-51 victory to improve to 13-3 on the season.
Jonny Clausing led the team with 18 points. Chase Sharp knocked down three three-pointers and finished with 11. Easton Brown was also in double figures with 10. Zac Burton, Jaren Jackson, and Jake Swink each scored eight.
Augusta has five games left in the regular season, and will travel to Winfield on Friday, Feb. 9 to take on the Vikings starting at 7:30 p.m.
