Army holds ex-servicemen meet at Sajik Tampak

Imphal, February 08 2018: 4 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) in continuation of its effort to reach out to the veterans organised an ex-servicemen meet at Sajik Tampak, Chandel district today.

PRO IGAR (S) in a press release stated that the meet was another stepping stone towards educating the veterans and veer naris on various welfare scheme and measures for improvement and upliftment of the ex-servicemen.

The rally was attended by 109 ex-servicemen and 40 veer naris of Chakpikarong, Sugnu and Sajik Tampak areas.

The rally was principally aimed at addressing issues pertaining to the ESM and acquaint them with various schemes and programs for enhancing the quality of life of the veterans.

Lt Col LM Singh (Retd), Gen Secretary, AFESAM addressed the ex-servicemen and educated mem on ECHS facility as available in the State.

He encouraged the ex-servicemen to register themselves to fully avail the medical facilities provided by the Army.

The ex-servicemen enquired regarding extension of these facilities to the remote areas for which the Colonel ensured that necessary steps are being taken on priority.

The ex-servicemen were assured that the local Assam Rifles units endeavor is to educate the Veterans on various welfare schemes andaddress their grievances for early resolution, it said.

The veterans showed great enthusiasm by actively participating in the meet.

The vibrant atmosphere of the ex-servicemen meet was truly reflective of their energies.

Colonel SK Sharma (Retd) another veteran also educated the ex-servicemen about how to apply online for ECHS Smart Card.

The Para Medics team from ECHS Polyclinic, Imphal conducted screening of patients from amongst the ex-servicemen.

In order to provide a forum for informal interaction, refreshments were organised after the meet.

A Manipuri dance performed by Pakan Dance Group added colour to the meet.

The rally was yet another admirable attempt by the 4 Assam Rifles to increase communication with the veterans of the region and showcase the continued commitment of the Armed Forces toward recognition of the valuable sacrifices rendered by the defence personnel towards the Nation, it added.
