MANILA, Philippines — Jonathan Tiu opened defense of his Quick 8 title by holding back the opposition in the first Northern Series leg of the 2018 National Drag Racing Championships at the Clark International Speedway in Clark Freeport, Pampanga, recently.
Tiu, the multiple and defending national champion, bested Sel Yulo in the final face-off with a time of 8.864 seconds in his Nissan GTR to rule the division confined to the leg’s eight quickest drivers.
Yulo clocked 10.590 in a Ford while Danes Sarmiento won the battle for third place in a Honda in 10.574.
Vanni Garcia timed 10.526 seconds to beat Allan Ararao (10.583) for the Super Pro class and Alvin Abrigo (12.062) while Malko Macatangay posted 11.826 seconds to best Rommel Dural and Ace Agustin by breakout (the racer’s clocking exceeds his nominated time), for the Pro title.
Daniel Logero (12.731) topped the Expert class over Jannery Millet (12.911) and Ronald Bautista (12.499), with John Paul Hernandez (14.59) nailing the Sportsman title over Renemar Tulabot and Richard Angeles, also by breakout.
Rainier Bognot (16.046) ruled the Hotstreet class over McArth Porcalla (16.249) and Kevin Espiritu (17.447).
