New Delhi, Feb 9: The Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah came down hard at his Congress counterpart Rahul Gandhi describing the latter’s style of politics as ‘undemocratic’. Speaking to party leaders during BJP Parliamentary Party meeting, which was also attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah said that the Congress was not allowing work in Parliament over one issue or another which was undemocratic.

“Amit Shah ji said Rahul ji’s style of politics is undemocratic. Hence such kind of disruptions during the speech of PM Modi,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar, who also attended the meeting, told reporters.

Referring to the Rafale deal, which the Congress has been using to corner the Modi government in Parliament, Ananth Kumar said Congress is compromising with national security.

Rafale deal ke main points bata chuke hain aur batayenge, lekin har ek component ko lekar charcha karna kitna uchit hoga desh hith mein? ye baat Rashtriya Adhyaksh ji ne baithak mein kaha. (During the meeting, our national president made it clear that the government has made everything public about the deal. But disclosing details about every component of the deal is not in favour of national security),” Kumar added.

Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday had targeted both PM Modi and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over the issue. Rahul Gandhi questioned why neither the PM nor the defence minister was responding to queries posed to them concerning the fighter jet deal with France. “Ye saaf hai ke maamle mein gadbadi hui hai (It is evident that there is something amiss in the deal),” he said. (Also Read:  Rafale Deal: Congress Sniffs a Scam And Here’s The Reason Behind it)

“Asked PM three questions – cost of jets, if they asked cabinet committee on security about it and why was contract snatched from HAL and given to a businessman? But got no answers. Did you see the PM yesterday? He gave a long speech but wasn’t interested in answering fundamental questions,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Replying to Rahul, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tore into the Congress accusing it of compromising national security by demanding details of the jet deal. (Rafale Deal: Congress Manufacturing Allegation of Corruption on NDA, Says Jaitley)

Speaking in Lok Sabha, Arun Jaitley, who was the Defence Minister before Nirmala Sitharamam took charge in September last year, said the Congress is manufacturing allegation of corruption against the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

“Your party was stigmatised when you were in government by allegations of corruption. Therefore, now the new act is let us manufacture an allegation of corruption against the NDA. So, when you couldn’t find anything you said please disclose the details of the Rafale deal,” Jaitley said.
