Imphal, February 08 2018: A two-day workshop cum training programme on 'Value Addition of Underutilized Fruits and Vegetables' kicked off today at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat.

The workshop cum training programme is organised by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre in collaboration with Professor Jayashankar Telengana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Hyderabad under Don 8-9 February, 2018.Dr A Guneshore Sharma, Director, AYUSH, Manipur; Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director and Dr HB Singh, Principal Scientist, CSIR-NEIST, Imphal attended the inaugural function as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Dr MR Sahoo and Dr Aparna Kuna, organising secretaries focused on the prospects of value added underutilized fruits and vegetables.

According to them, the value added product technologies were transferred to the entrepreneurs across the State for popularization and commercialization.

Value addition of underutilized fruits and vegetables would be a huge ray of hope for the entrepreneurs of the region to ensure nutritional security and empower the farmers and producer group with good employment generation and employment opportunities.

Participants comprising of researchers, extension functionaries and entrepreneurs took part in the programme.

The programme concluded with vote of thanks pronounced by Dr SS Roy, Scientist of the centre.
