Even as police continue to probe into the sensational case of rape with a minor in Mango, Jharkhand Human Rights Conference (JHRC) has demanded a judicial probe into gruesome act.
The 17-year-old girl who worked as a maid in the house of a businessman at Sahara City was raped by three persons. As the matter came to the notice of the house owner, Nanak Chandra Seth, he made the victim's mother, who is a resident of Kawali in Potka block to lodged an FIR against three with the Mango police station on January 19.
“It is really a sensational case. We want the case to be probed through a judicial enquiry into it. Since the case involve a police officer we doubt that the matter can be hushed,” said Manoj Mishra of JHRC.
He informed that he has already sent a petition seeking the judicial probe to Chief Minister Raghubar Das today.
The three accused were identified as Indrapal Singh Saini, Shiv Kumar Mahto and Santosh Mahto, all residents of Mango. Saini had on January 5 surrendered before the erstwhile senior SP, Anoop T Mathew where as two other accused is still absconding.
Anoop Birthare has taken charge as senior SP, Jamshedpur from Mathew on Wednesday. Mathew arrested Saini, suspended Imdad Ansari, the sub-inspector who is alleged to have raped the minor and set up a four-member probe team.
City SP, Prabhat Kumar said a four-member team of police officers, headed by KN Mishra is probing into the case.
The probe team constituted by East Singhbhum SSP Anoop T. Mathew is led by DSP headquarter-I K. N Mishra, Mango police station officer-in-charge, Arun Kumar Mahatha, Sakchi Mahila thana in-charge Seema Kumari and Jaduguda thana in-charge, Priyanka Kumari and will be submitting their report to the new SSP Anup Birtharay.
“ We are investigating the incident. Since the police officer faces serious charge alleged by the victim, the SSP had yesterday late night issued a directive to shift the MGM thana in-charge to district police lines till the investigation into the incident is completed and the report is submitted to SSP,” said Prabhat Kumar.
Meanwhile, Indrapal Singh Saini (44), a resident of Marina City, an apartment adjoining Sahara City at Mango (where the victim is staying), one of the three persons accused of rape by the victim, who had been arrested by the police was sent to Ghaghidih Central Jail.
