The national Capital coming Sunday will be able to enjoy a rare style of drama at the "Thespis 2", the 2nd edition of National Micro Drama Festival. With a total of 30 dramas, each not longer than 10 minutes, the micro drama festival at Kamani Auditorium here will pay tribute to theatre artistes and activists including Tom Alter, Vallabh Vyas, Mangalam Swaminath and Radhakrishnan Wayanad. Organised by Delhi-based theatre group 'Vriksh the Theatre', the festival will witness "never seen before" tales based on different themes and titles around the current situations witnessed by our society. The participants will also be awarded under 10 different categories including best production, best direction, and best script. "All scripts will be fresh and never seen before at any platforms.
As to heat up the competition, Best Production is awarded with a cash prize of Rs 25,000 with a memento and certificate," the organisers said. Named after 'Thespis of Icaria', believed to be the first actor in Greek drama (6th century BC), the festival will have plays in different languages including regional languages like Punjabi, Urdu, Tamil, Bengali, and Malayalam. The festival last year had hosted 28 plays in 10 different languages including Kashmiri, Rajasthani, Urdu and Punjabi.
