BIKER’S DEATH

A biker was killed in New Delhi on Thursday after his neck got stuck in a wire at a police barricade, a police officer said, adding that an Inspector was transferred and seven policemen were suspended over the accident.

The victim, Abhishek, was returning home at 1am, when he met with the freak accident on a west Delhi road where the wire was tied to serve as a barricade by the police.

The police said the deceased worked as a private taxi driver and part-time Disc Jockey (DJ) and was returning to his residence in Shakurpur JJ cluster.

“When he reached near the Subhash Place Police Station, he had to passing through four barricades.

“Apparently, he could not see the wire due to darkness and his neck got stuck in the wire that was tied between two of the barriers. He died on the spot,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Aslam Khan said.

“During initial investigation, we found negligence on the part of area’s Station House Officer (SHO), four constables and the division staff. We have sent SHO Arvind Kumar to the district lines for questioning.

“Head Constable Jitender and constables Balkari, Ravinder, Mukesh and Gaurav, and the division officers — Sub Inspector Sandeep Dabbas and Assistant Sub Inspector Ravinder — have been suspended for negligent behaviour on duty. A case has been registered against them and probe is underway,” the officer said.
